MAYA with ThinkReservations, start to finish

Before you start

• A login that reaches one property. A login covering several hotels cannot connect from inside MAYA. We set those up with you. Read ThinkReservations.
• A card, and possibly a code. There is no free trial without a code. Read Codes and the free trial.
• One standard rate type named Best Available, covering every room type you want priced, or another you pick on the PMS tab. MAYA sends its prices there, and the PMS tab says "MAYA reads and writes:" with its name. Read Which rate type MAYA sends prices to.
• Your other standard rate types looked at. A wedding, group or package rate type with rates of its own gets the same change as your main rate on its own rate, unless you untick it under Also moves with MAYA on the review or the PMS tab. Read Your other standard rates.
• Your rooms set up in ThinkReservations. A room marked inactive, as not a room, or as not included in occupancy is left out of MAYA's count. Read How many rooms each room type has.

Day one

   Pay

   Create your account and pay, choosing Think Reservations as your system. Enter your code there if you have one. Read Setting up payment.

   Connect

   On Connect your property system, click Connect → beside Sign in with your Think Reservations account, sign in on ThinkReservations' site and approve. The link lasts 15 minutes. Read Connecting for the messages you might see.

   Pick a path

   Hold My Hand or Let Me Drive. MAYA reads your history either way. Read Hold My Hand or Let Me Drive.

   Check your room counts, time zone and currency

   On the PMS tab, check the units beside each room type: MAYA counts them from ThinkReservations' list of rooms. If you sell rooms by name, each room is its own room type, shown under its Room Group. The same counts make up the room count on your bill, so if they are more rooms than you pay for, you get a room count email. Read Your room count and what you pay. Higher up the same tab, Time zone and currency shows what MAYA copied from ThinkReservations when you connected. Nothing waits on them while you simulate, but check both before you go live, and email us if either is wrong. Read Time zone and currency.

The first days

• The history import runs on its own. You can close the page. Read The history import.
• The review lists what MAYA found and, with about 60 days of history, your starter rules. Untick anything nobody sleeps in. Read Checking what MAYA found.
• Floors and ceilings are set by the import from your answers and your own rates. Check them in the Guardrails column of the Rate Simulator tab. Read Floors and ceilings.
• Simulation. Your rules run on the rates you keep in ThinkReservations on the rate type MAYA reads and writes, read about once an hour, and nothing is sent. Read Simulation mode.

Going live

• A General Manager or Hotel Admin clicks Go live on the amber strip at the top of the dashboard ("Simulation · MAYA works out prices but sends nothing to Think Reservations"), after the review, and confirms "Send The Harbour Inn's prices to Think Reservations?" (with your property's name). The review itself has no Go live. Read Going live.
• From the next cycle, MAYA sends each room type's changed prices to the rate type it reads and writes, Best Available here, and the same change to each other standard rate type the confirm names after "MAYA also moves:". ThinkReservations accepts them and applies them shortly after, and MAYA reads them back within about an hour. Read How a send is checked.
• If a read still finds the old rate 3 hours after a send, MAYA sends that night again by itself. If a night still shows the old rate after that, email us the night and room type and we check it.
• Switch off other automatic pricing first. Any feature in ThinkReservations that changes the Best Available rate by itself counts as another revenue tool. Switch it off before you go live, or the two will write over each other. If it has to stay on, turn on MAYA's price wins in Settings. Read Switching from another revenue tool.

Daily life

A normal day once you are live takes a few minutes:

• Open the Change Log tab. Its default view shows only the runs that changed a price, so read what moved and why.
• Look for a banner: billing, a lost connection, a rule that raised or cut a night several times, or "Prices not reaching Think Reservations" at the top of the change log.
• On the PMS tab, check that Last sync is a few minutes old. It is shown on your own computer's clock, with the time zone after it: the PMS tab has an example. If it is more than an hour old, bookings are not being read, even if Connection reads Connected. Read When there is no banner.
• For your own events, such as a wedding or a local festival, type a price on those nights.

The rest runs without you, day and night, whether or not anyone has MAYA open. Other things you may meet:

• A rate you change in ThinkReservations on a night MAYA has sent to is kept as yours once MAYA has read its own price back there and the send is an hour old. Read Rates you change in your property system.
• A free night. MAYA never sends a price of 0, so set a comp night to 0 in ThinkReservations yourself. Read Make a night free.
• Blocked rooms. MAYA does not read them. Enter them under Rooms out of service on the PMS tab. Read Tell MAYA rooms are out of service.
• Permission or connection problems show in the change log or as a banner, and a General Manager or Hotel Admin reconnects in one click. A connection that reads Error for about an hour also sends them an email. Read Connection lost.
• The PMS tab's request list and Health card read "Not tracked for this system" for ThinkReservations. Look at Connection and Last sync instead. Read The PMS tab.

Leaving

Cancel on the Billing page first, then email us and we remove the connection from our side. The rates in ThinkReservations stay as MAYA last sent them. Read Cancelling, restarting and leaving.
