Make a night free (a comp)

3 min readHow do I...Updated September 28, 2026

In plain words

Open the night on the Calendar tab, type 0 in the room type's box and Save. A night set to 0 is a comp night: no rule raises it. MAYA never sends a price of 0 to Cloudbeds or ThinkReservations, so set that night to 0 in your system yourself. If the comp is cancelled before the night, Clear hands it back to MAYA.

Set the night to 0

  1. 1

    Open the night

Go to the Calendar tab and click the night. Find the room type's card.

  2. 2

    Type 0 and save

Type 0 in the box. For several nights, click through… and pick the last night. Click Save.

  3. 3

    Read the confirmation

On a live property the line under the box reads "Saved. MAYA doesn't send a price of 0 to Cloudbeds, so set the night to 0 there yourself." followed by "No rule raises a night set to 0." While you are simulating it reads "Saved (simulation: not sent to Cloudbeds)."

  4. 4

Set the night to 0 in your property system

MAYA has done its part. The room's rate in your system is still whatever it was, until you change it there.

Setting a price needs Revenue Manager access or higher.

Why 0 is the way

A floor cannot be 0: the lowest floor MAYA accepts is above 0, and a typed price under the floor is refused. The one exception is exactly 0, which is not read as a price under the floor but as a comp night. On a comp night no rule can raise the price, so it stays at 0.

What your system needs

MAYA does not send a rate of 0 to Cloudbeds, so the change log carries an ongoing item headed "Prices not reaching Cloudbeds" with the line "MAYA doesn't send a price of 0 to Cloudbeds, so Standard rates set to 0 in MAYA weren't changed there." Open the night's in Cloudbeds and set it to 0 yourself. Once MAYA's next hourly read of your rates finds the 0 there, the item closes.

Afterwards

If the comp is cancelled before the night, click Clear on the room type card. The line reads "Cleared. Your rules price this night again." and your rules price it again straight away. Remember to put the rate back in your system too.

Once the night has passed there is nothing to clear, and Clear no longer shows. Your rules never price a past night again, so the comp needs no tidying up.
