In plain words
Look at the top of the screen. A slim amber strip reading "Simulation · MAYA works out prices but sends nothing to Cloudbeds" means you are simulating. A small green Live tag at the top right means you are live. The change log says it too: each run made in simulation is tagged Simulation, and each live change says whether its price was sent. To see a price in your property system, compare one night there with MAYA. If you are still unsure, email us and we check.
The clues
- 1
Look at the top of the screen
On every tab of the dashboard, on the Billing and Team pages, and on the review page, the top of the screen says which mode your property is in. While it simulates, a slim amber strip with an amber dot reads "Simulation · MAYA works out prices but sends nothing to Cloudbeds" (your system's name). A General Manager or Hotel Admin sees a green Go live button at its right, on every page but the review (Going live); anyone else finds "A General Manager or Hotel Admin can switch this property to live." behind its ?. Once live, the strip is gone and a small green Live tag sits at the top right. Hover it for "MAYA sends its prices to Cloudbeds."
- 2
Read the change log
A run made in simulation is tagged Simulation. Its changes start "Simulation:", such as "Simulation: Nov 13 · Standard · Busy nights +10%", with "Nothing was sent to Cloudbeds." under it ("Nothing was sent to Cloudbeds at the time." once you are live, with a second line such as "Sent to Cloudbeds after you went live." when the night still has that price). A "Went live" item marks when someone took the property live. On a live property the change that last priced a night says "Sent to Cloudbeds." once its price went, "Waiting to be sent to Cloudbeds." until it does, or "Couldn't be sent to Cloudbeds." if MAYA stopped trying. The change log has every line.
- 3
Open the review page
Open maya-rms.com/onboarding/review, or click Review → on the blue banner when it is showing. Under "While you were here, we built your first pricing rules", a simulating property shows the buttons Keep them and Remove them and start with a clean slate. A live property shows the green pill "✓ Live: your rules are now managing prices" instead. The review has no Go live: going live is on the dashboard's strip. This box only appears when MAYA built for you during setup, which needs about 60 days of history. It stays after someone runs Get suggestions from my data on the Rules tab. If it is missing, the strip at the top still says which mode you are in.

Read the amber banner, if one is showing
When three of a rule's changes are on a night, the banner's headline reads "Hot-week surge" has 3 raises on Sat, Nov 14 2026. when you are live, and "Hot-week surge" would have 3 raises on Sat, Nov 14 2026. in simulation.
If you have typed a price for a real reason lately, its confirmation said which mode you were in: "Saved (simulation: not sent to Cloudbeds)." in simulation, "Saved. Sending to Cloudbeds now." or "Saved. Sending to Cloudbeds on the next cycle (about 5 min)." when live. "Saved. It will be sent once you reconnect." and "Saved. Cloudbeds isn't answering MAYA right now. MAYA keeps trying to reach it and sends this price as soon as it answers." mean live too, with the connection down. "Saved. Nothing is sent while MAYA's work is paused." says nothing about the mode. Do not type a price only to test this. On a live property it sends the price, and it takes any or pickup change off that night for good.
Then compare a night with your system
Pick a night in the next few weeks with a price on the Calendar tab (the room type card's Current price). Open the same night and room type in your property system.
Look at the room type's in Cloudbeds. On a live property it matches MAYA's current price within a few minutes of a change, unless you have changed it yourself in Cloudbeds since. follow it by Cloudbeds' own rules. The Change Log tab shows a "Prices not reaching Cloudbeds" item if sends are failing. A simulating property never has one, because nothing is sent.
Look at the rate for the room type in ThinkReservations, on the one the PMS tab names after "MAYA reads and writes:" (usually Best Available). ThinkReservations accepts MAYA's prices and applies them shortly after, so allow a little longer than with Cloudbeds. MAYA reads the rate back within about an hour. Until then the change log says "Accepted by Think Reservations, checking." under the change.
MAYA does not send prices to Mews yet, so the rate in Mews never changes because of MAYA, live or not. The strip says so while simulating ("Simulation · MAYA works out prices but sends nothing to Mews", with no Go live button), and once live each change in the change log says "Nothing was sent to Mews. MAYA doesn't send prices there yet."
A typed price's confirmation on a live Mews property reads "Saved. MAYA doesn't send prices to Mews yet.", and in simulation "Saved (simulation: not sent to Mews)." Either way nothing reaches Mews.
