Hold My Hand or Let Me Drive

5 min readYour history and the reviewUpdated October 8, 2026

In plain words

Hold My Hand asks five optional questions and walks you through what MAYA found in your history. Let Me Drive skips the questions and the guided review and takes you straight to the calendar. The import, the and the review cards happen either way. A dashboard banner links to the review while cards wait for your answer, and maya-rms.com/onboarding/review opens it any time.

Where the choice appears

Once your property is paid for and connected, the onboarding page shows two large buttons and nothing else.

  • Hold My Hand, with "(Recommended)" beneath it.
  • Let Me Drive. When you hover over it, or reach it with the keyboard, a note fades in. On a touch screen the note is always shown. It reads "Straight to your dashboard, with no guided review. For experts only."

Whichever you press reads "One moment…" while your choice is saved. If the save fails you see "Something went wrong. Please try again."

What Hold My Hand does

You go to the five questions, one card at a time, with the import's progress bar underneath. Every question can be skipped.

After the last question (or Skip the rest →), MAYA takes you to the review if the first results are in and there is something to look at. Otherwise it takes you to the progress page, which moves you on to the review by itself once there is something to review.

On the review you check what MAYA found, tick which room types are rooms, set your floors and ceilings, and keep your or remove them. Then you go to your dashboard, where you go live when you are ready. Read Checking what MAYA found.

What Let Me Drive does

You go straight to the dashboard. The import keeps running in the background, so the calendar fills in as you look at it. Your are still built and switched on in simulation, floors and ceilings are still filled in from your history, and the review cards are still written. With no answer to the last question, the starter rules are the usual five. To have them copy your own raises and cuts instead, answer it at maya-rms.com/onboarding/questions while nobody has changed them: Your starter rules says when that swaps them.

When there are cards waiting for your answer, a blue banner appears at the top of your dashboard with a Review → link. That is the same review screen Hold My Hand walks you to.

If the import built starter rules but found nothing to ask you about, there is no banner. Open the review at maya-rms.com/onboarding/review, or find the starter rules on the Rules tab, switched on in simulation.

The five questions are not asked. Without them, your floors and ceilings come from your own rates instead of from your answers. Read Floors and ceilings.

Your choice is recorded for you and for the property. It does not change how rules run, what is sent, or what you pay.

Changing your mind

There is no button to switch paths, and you do not need one. Both guided screens stay open to you:

  • The review opens any time at maya-rms.com/onboarding/review. The dashboard banner links to it only while cards wait for your answer and you have not pressed Finish since the newest one arrived. Read the banner on your dashboard.
  • The five questions open any time after your property is connected, at maya-rms.com/onboarding/questions.

If you chose Hold My Hand and closed the tab part way through, nothing is lost. Your next sign-in lands on the dashboard. If cards are waiting for your answer, the banner brings you back to the review. If there is no banner, open the review by its address.

Example: Sam picks Let Me Drive

Sam connects The Harbour Inn on a Tuesday evening, presses Let Me Drive, and lands on the calendar with the coming nights already filling in. On Wednesday morning a banner at the top of the dashboard reads "We found 3 things worth a quick look". Sam clicks Review →, confirms one closure, presses Not a room on the Meeting Room card, and sees the five waiting in simulation. Nothing about Tuesday's choice held any of that back.
