The PMS tab: connection health

11 min readWatching it workUpdated October 8, 2026

In plain words

The PMS tab shows whether your property system is connected, how the last 24 hours of requests to it went, when bookings last synced, the most recent requests MAYA made, and the time zone and currency saved for your property. Problems sending prices are not here. They are in the change log. When the connection breaks on Cloudbeds or ThinkReservations, a General Manager or Hotel Admin sees a Reconnect button here, and in a banner at the top of the dashboard whichever tab is open. On Mews, the panel asks everyone to email us to re-enter the keys.

Where it is

The PMS tab is the last of the five tabs. Everyone on the property can open it. The heading reads "Property System (Cloudbeds)", with your system's name in brackets once connected, and one line under it: "Bookings sync automatically on a schedule. This page shows how that connection is doing."

Before it loads: "Loading connection status…". If it can't be read: "Couldn't load the connection status." with Try again. With no property chosen: "Select a property to view status." (or "Couldn't load your property." with Try again when your properties couldn't be read). With no system connected yet: "No property system is connected for this property yet." On a demo property, which never has one: "A demo property has no property system. Its bookings are made up." (The demo property).

The Time zone and currency card sits under the request list, and the Room types section under that, on the same tab. Room types and rooms out of service covers it.

The three cards

Connection

A single word, colour-coded. It is the state of the connection as MAYA last recorded it.

WordWhat it meansWhat to do
Connected (green)Healthy. MAYA reads bookings and, when you are live, sends prices.Nothing.
Pending (amber)Connected but not yet paid for. Nothing runs.Finish setting up payment.
Degraded (amber)Still working. MAYA keeps reading bookings and, when you are live, sending prices. Cloudbeds and ThinkReservations only.Usually nothing: it tends to clear by itself on the next read. If it is still there in an hour, click Reconnect. It does no harm.
Error (red)Your system rejected MAYA's saved access. On Mews and ThinkReservations: three reads in a row were refused. On Cloudbeds and ThinkReservations it also follows about an hour of reads failing for any other reason, or a refused renewal of MAYA's access. Nothing is read or sent while it lasts. MAYA keeps trying about every 15 minutes, and the card goes back to Connected by itself once a try works, except after a refused renewal, which only a reconnect fixes. If it has not cleared within a couple of hours, click Reconnect (on Mews, email us). It does no harm sooner.
Disconnected (red)MAYA's access is gone: the app was uninstalled, its permission removed, or your system refused it. Nothing runs until someone reconnects.Reconnect.
unknown (grey)MAYA has no status on file for the connection yet.Open the tab again in a few minutes. If it stays, email us.

While the card reads Degraded, one calm line sits above the cards: "Your Cloudbeds connection needs a refresh soon. Prices are still updating." (with your system's name). Yes, your prices are still going out: nothing has stopped and nothing is lost. A General Manager or Hotel Admin also sees a quiet Reconnect Cloudbeds link at the end of that line.

When the card has read Error or Disconnected for about an hour, every General Manager and Hotel Admin gets one email saying the connection is down, with a button that opens this tab. Degraded never sends it. Read emails MAYA sends.

The Health card below has a "Degraded" of its own, about failed requests. The two are separate.

Health (last 24 hours)

How the requests MAYA made to your system in the last 24 hours went. It counts every request, reads and writes alike.

BadgeMeaning
Healthy98% or more of the requests succeeded.
Degraded80% to under 98% succeeded.
Having troubleUnder 80% succeeded.
No recent activityNo requests in the last 24 hours.
Not tracked for this systemThinkReservations and Mews. MAYA keeps no log of its requests to them, so there is nothing to count.

Beside the badge: "97% of 412 requests OK".

A short spell of "Degraded" is normal when your system is slow or asks MAYA to wait. "Having trouble" for more than an hour, with a Connection card that is not green, means it is time to reconnect. Connection lost walks through the cases.

Last sync

The last time MAYA read your bookings successfully, on your own computer's clock with its time zone, for example "Sep 22, 2026, 3:05:12 PM PDT". Someone in another time zone sees the same moment on their own clock. A dash means it has never read them. On a healthy connection this time is at most a few minutes old, because MAYA reads about every five minutes.

The rate type (ThinkReservations)

On a ThinkReservations property, a line under the cards names the rate type MAYA reads your rates from and sends its prices to: "MAYA reads and writes: Best Available Rate". Under it MAYA says what needs you: a room type with no rate type ("No rate type for Deluxe, so it isn't priced."), two rate types that tie, or a rate type you picked that is gone or switched off. The line shows once MAYA has read your rate types, a few minutes after you connect.

A General Manager or Hotel Admin, or MAYA support in God Mode, also gets a Rate type list: Automatic or any active standard rate type. The pick applies from the next cycle and stays until you change it. On a live property the list asks first, since the rate type in use keeps MAYA's last prices and stops getting new ones. Everyone else sees the line only, with "A General Manager or Hotel Admin can pick one on the PMS tab." at the end of a warning. Read Seeing and picking the rate type.

Under the line, Also moves with MAYA lists your other active standard rate types with rates of their own, such as a wedding or group rate, with a tick beside each one MAYA moves: it gets the same change as your main rate, on its own rate. A General Manager or Hotel Admin, or MAYA support in God Mode, ticks or unticks each one, asked first on a live property. New marks one nobody has looked at yet, held out, with a Leave out button. Everyone else sees the list without changing it. Read Your other standard rates.

Recent requests

Under the cards is a technical list of MAYA's last 50 requests to Cloudbeds, headed "Recent requests to Cloudbeds". You do not need to read it. If you email us about the connection, it helps us. A request that failed shows its status code, or ERR, in red. Its times show the same way as Last sync, on your own clock. Requests are kept for 7 days. When there are none, it reads "No requests recorded yet".

The table fills with every request MAYA makes to Cloudbeds, and the Health card is built from the same list.

Time zone and currency

Under the request list, a card headed Time zone and currency shows both as they are saved for your property. The time zone shows by its name, such as "America/Los_Angeles". The currency shows by its code and sign, such as "USD ($)", "EUR (€)" or "GBP (£)", or by the code alone for any other currency, such as "CAD". Nothing here can be changed. The ? beside the heading says what each is for: tonight is tonight in this time zone, for your rules and for the prices sent to your system, and amounts across MAYA are in this currency, never converted. On a Cloudbeds property it adds "MAYA checks both against Cloudbeds once a day and follows a new time zone. A new currency is followed only while you're in simulation."

Both are saved when your property connects: read from Cloudbeds or ThinkReservations, and set with you for Mews. On Cloudbeds both are read again once a day: a new time zone is saved, and so is a new currency while the property is in simulation, each with a line in the change log. A live property's currency is never changed by a read. When no time zone was read, a property gets UTC, the world reference time, and when no currency was read, US dollars. So when the time zone reads UTC, a line under the two values says so in plain words: "UTC and US dollars are what a property gets when its time zone and currency weren't read from its system. If either is wrong for your property, send us a message and we'll correct it." When the currency is not US dollars, the line speaks of the time zone alone. The link opens an email to us. To change either value at any other time, email us too. Time, weekends, currency and holidays explains what each one changes.

Reconnecting from here

Above the cards, what you see depends on the Connection card and on your role. Broken means the card reads Error or Disconnected. Any other word counts as not broken.

  • Not broken, Cloudbeds or ThinkReservations, General Manager or Hotel Admin: a quiet link, Reconnect Cloudbeds. Use it if you have been asked to, for example after your system's permissions changed.
  • Degraded, any role: one calm line, "Your Cloudbeds connection needs a refresh soon. Prices are still updating." A General Manager or Hotel Admin sees the quiet Reconnect Cloudbeds link at the end of it. The line also shows above the calendar, where the banner would.
  • Broken, Cloudbeds or ThinkReservations, General Manager or Hotel Admin: an amber panel headed "MAYA has lost its connection to Cloudbeds" with the button Reconnect Cloudbeds. One click sends you to your system to confirm and brings you back to this tab, with a short note: "Reconnected." Your rules, history and settings are untouched. If the reconnect stops, a MAYA page says why, with Back to the PMS tab (If a connect stops).
  • Broken, Cloudbeds or ThinkReservations, Revenue Manager or Viewer: the same heading, with a note to ask the property's General Manager or Hotel Admin, since it takes them one click.
  • Broken, Mews, any role: a panel headed "Mews needs its keys re-entered", with "Ask us to re-enter the Mews keys: email info@modern-hospitality-solutions.com." The address opens an email to us. Mews connects with keys we enter, not a login, so nobody can repair it from this screen.

The same panel appears as a banner at the top of the dashboard while the connection is broken, from the moment the dashboard opens and whichever tab you are on. On a live Cloudbeds property, the change log's "Prices not reaching Cloudbeds" item also points you here with "Reconnect Cloudbeds on the PMS tab." Reconnect and disconnect has the full walk-through.

How fresh the tab is

MAYA reads the connection when the dashboard opens, again when you switch property, and each time you open this tab. The banner at the top of the dashboard follows the same read. The tab does not refresh on its own while open. Click another tab and come back to reload it.

Example: The Harbour Inn on a quiet Tuesday

Sam opens the PMS tab. Connection reads Connected. Health reads Healthy, "99% of 412 requests OK". Last sync reads "Sep 22, 2026, 3:05:12 PM PDT", a couple of minutes ago on Sam's clock at The Harbour Inn. Under the cards, the newest request is from a minute ago. Nothing needs doing.
