In plain words
When three of a or pickup rule's changes are on the same night, an amber banner asks you: keep adjusting, or stop for this night. Until you answer, it keeps going. Stop means no more changes there, and what it already did stays. You can let it run again from the Rules tab.
When it appears
A or pickup rule acts, waits, and can act again on the same night. Each change stacks on the last, so a night can climb (or fall) a long way on one rule. So at three, MAYA asks you.
The count is per rule, per night: the most of its changes still on the price on any one of that night's room types. The banner warns how far the price can go, so a change that has come off, for cancellations or because you typed a price, does not count. Only booking speed and pickup rules can reach three. A (a rule with no booking speed or condition) makes one change while it is true.
The rule does not stop at three. It keeps acting after its wait, as usual, until you answer. The banner is your chance to say otherwise.
The banner appears a few minutes after the third change. It does not refresh by itself, so reload the page to see the latest.
If MAYA can't read whether any rule is waiting on you, the banner's place says "Couldn't check for rules that keep adjusting." with Try again. That does not mean nothing is waiting.
What the banner says
It sits above the tab content on every tab, in amber, and opens straight with the rule's headline. One card per rule, rules A to Z. Each card has:
- A headline. "Hot-week surge" has 3 raises on Fri, Nov 13 2026. For several nights: "Slow-date rescue" has 3 cuts on each of 4 nights (or "3 to 5 cuts"). When a night's room types have different counts, it says "up to": "up to 3 raises", or "up to 5 cuts on each of 4 nights".
- A consequence line. "It keeps raising these nights until you stop it."
- One block per night. The night, then how many changes are on each room type ("3 raises on Standard and 1 raise on Deluxe"), then what the rule saw at its latest change: "In the 7 days it measured, 9 bookings came in. A night like this usually has about 4 by then." or, for a pickup rule, "Pickup over the 3 days it counted came to 6 , against the 4 you set." When the rule counted from its earlier raise, or a stronger rule's, a line opens "Since the raise before its latest one, by it or a stronger rule," instead, and a pickup line reads "Pickup since the raise before its latest one, by it or a stronger rule, came to 6 room nights" ("cut" for a rule that cuts).
- A limit line. Where the price can go if the rule carries on: "If it keeps cutting, the price can fall to your $80.00 floor for Standard." When the limit is still the default: "Your ceiling for Suite is still MAYA's $99,999.99 default, so the price can climb that far." with a "?" and a link, Ask MAYA for a ceiling or Ask MAYA for a floor, which takes you to the Rules tab and its Get suggestions from my data button. Read Floors and ceilings.
Prices in the banner use your property's currency symbol.
"Why does the alert show different counts per room type?" Because waits, changes and limits run per room type. Standard may have three raises on it while Deluxe sat at its ceiling and has one.
Example: The banner after a busy week at The Harbour Inn
"Hot-week surge" has up to 3 raises on Sat, Nov 14 2026. It keeps raising these nights until you stop it.
Sat, Nov 14 2026 · 3 raises on Standard, 3 raises on Deluxe and 2 raises on Suite Since the raise before its latest one, by it or a stronger rule, 12 bookings came in. A night like this usually gets about 5 in a whole week. If it keeps raising, the price can climb to your $600.00 ceiling for Suite.
Under it, the two buttons, Keep adjusting and Stop for this night.
"Why does it say 3 days when my rule measures the past week?" Because it counted only from its latest change. Once a booking speed or pickup rule, or a stronger one that moves the price the same way, has changed a night, the rule counts only the bookings made since the newest such change still on that night, or a stronger rule's change that going live from your current rates took off. "Slow-date trim" waits a week, so at its third trim it counted the 6 full days after the day of its second: "In the 6 days it measured". A rule that raises on a fast pace, such as "Hot-week surge", names the raise instead, and sets those bookings against a whole week of a similar night. Read Counting after a change.
The two answers
Each night has two buttons. A "?" at the top of the rule's card, beside the buttons that answer every night (on its own when the card has one night), says:
- "Keep adjusting: the rule carries on as it is, and MAYA stops asking about that night."
- "Stop for this night: the rule makes no more changes on that night. What it already changed there stays, unless cancellations mean the rule is no longer true." For a rule with its undo box unticked: "What it already changed there stays."
- "A stopped night shows on the Rules tab, where you can let the rule run on it again; MAYA then asks about it again if the rule keeps adjusting it."
- "Either way, your other rules keep working on these nights" (the line goes on to mention editing the rule).
Editing the rule's conditions, amount or room types starts it fresh: its answers belonged to the rule as it was, so its stopped nights run again and the banner can ask about them once more. A new name or the undo box alone keeps them. Deleting the rule and adding it again starts it fresh too.
Stop takes effect from the next cycle. The night is left out of that rule entirely, so it cannot hold the night through its wait either: a weaker rule may now act there.
"I answered Stop but the price did not go back." Stop means no more changes. It does not undo the ones already made, though with the undo box ticked cancellations can still take them off. To put the price where you want it, type it on the calendar. Read Setting a price yourself.
"I answered Keep adjusting and changed my mind. How do I stop the rule on that night now?" There is no undo for Keep adjusting. The night leaves the banner, it never shows under Stopped on N nights, and MAYA does not ask about it again for that rule. Three things you can do:
- Type a price for that night on the calendar, on each room type the rule changed. The rule's changes on that room type come off at once. After its wait, the rule can adjust your price again, and MAYA still does not ask.
- Turn the rule off on the Rules tab. It stops on every night, and the changes it already made stay.
- Delete the rule. Every change it made comes off, on every night. If you add it again, it starts fresh, so the banner can ask about that night once more.
"Why did the price jump 50%?" Two raises stacked, or three. The change log shows each step with its running price, and the banner shows how many times each room type has been raised.
Answering many nights at once
When a card has more than one night, two whole-card buttons come first: Keep adjusting on all N nights and Stop on all N nights. N is every night waiting on the card, and the answer covers all of them; the card's headline counts them all too. The nights themselves sit behind a line naming the first three ("Fri, Nov 13 2026, Sat, Nov 14 2026, Sun, Nov 15 2026 and 4 more nights") with Answer night by night to open them and Hide the nights to close them. Opened, it lists the nearest 30 nights, one card each. A rule waiting on more than 30 says how many more under the last card ("And 358 more nights after these."); answer the listed ones and the next ones take their place, or use the two buttons for all of them.
Who can answer
Revenue Managers, General Managers and Hotel Admins. Anyone below that sees the same card with no buttons and the line "Only a Revenue Manager or above can answer this."
Messages you can meet when an answer fails: "That did not save. Try again in a moment." (try again), "Unknown alert." (the banner is stale, so reload the page), "You need manager access to do that."
In simulation
The banner appears in simulation too, because the rules run and their changes are counted even though nothing is sent. The headline, the consequence line and the limit line switch to the conditional: "would have 3 raises", "It would keep raising these nights until you stop it.", "the price would climb to your $300.00 ceiling". The room type counts and the "?" beside the answers keep their usual wording. Your answers work the same way.
Stopped on N nights, and letting it run again
On the Rules tab, a rule you have stopped on upcoming nights shows an amber chip under its switch: Stopped on 3 nights (or Stopped on 1 night). The rule reads On, because it is on everywhere else. A "?" names the nights: "You told this rule to stop on Fri, Nov 13 2026, Sat, Nov 14 2026 and Sun, Nov 15 2026." then what stays, then "Your other rules still work on those nights." and "Let it run again puts the rule back on them, starting from the price it left, and MAYA asks you again if it keeps adjusting one."
Let it run again takes your answer off every night you stopped that rule on, in one click. The rule can act on them again from the next cycle, starting from the price it left. It asks you again only after three more changes on a night, not straight away.
"MAYA says a rule is Stopped on 3 nights but I never answered anything." A colleague did. The change log's "Your answer" entries name who.
Your answers in the change log
Each answer is its own item on the Change Log tab, headed "Your answer" with the time, such as "Your answer · Fri, Oct 2, 2026, 3:12 PM PDT". One item covers every night the answer settled. The change log keeps only the latest answer on each night: letting a rule run again takes the earlier stop off the log, and a stop on a night that has since passed is no longer listed.
- "Priya stopped "Hot-week surge" on Sat, Nov 14 2026. What it already changed stays, unless cancellations mean the rule is no longer true." (a rule with its undo box unticked ends "What it already changed stays.")
- "Priya told "Hot-week surge" to carry on with 4 nights."
- "Priya let "Hot-week surge" run again on Sat, Nov 14 2026. It can start adjusting again from the next ."
An answer given while your property was simulating says "Its simulated changes so far stay" in place of "What it already changed stays": the rule changed no price that was sent. Someone whose name is not on file reads as "A manager". Deleting a rule removes its answers from the change log. An answer MAYA support gave for you is headed "MAYA support's answer" and names them as "MAYA support". Up to 20 answers are shown, within the span of the runs on screen.
A typed price closes the question
If you type a price on a night that is in the banner, the rule's changes come off on the room type you typed it on. The night leaves the banner once no room type there still has three of the rule's changes, so type a price on each room type that has three. If the rule later stacks its way back to three on your price, it asks again. That is only for a night still waiting for your answer: on a night you answered Keep adjusting, a typed price takes the rule's changes off, but MAYA does not ask again.
Other rules keep working
Stopping one rule on a night does nothing to your other rules. They keep measuring and changing that night as before.
