In plain words
Recent bookings is how many new bookings came in across your whole property, for any night, on the full days up to yesterday: Yesterday, or the last 3, 7, 14 or 30 full days. MAYA counts it once a day, at its first check after midnight at your property. At least 20 means 20 or more. In a rule built only from conditions like this one, the change stays on while the rule is true and comes off when it isn't, though with the undo box unticked, cancellations usually don't take it off through a Greater than occupancy or Fewer than rooms left line in the same rule (The undo box). Alongside a or condition, recent bookings must be true when the rule acts, and a count that later falls short doesn't take the change off. It is also read on some runs where such a rule doesn't act (while it waits on a night, or while Skip price adjustments or going live from your current rates holds it there), as part of whether the rule is still true there.
The definition
In the rule builder, pick Recent bookings, whole property (advanced) in the Metric dropdown. Its Compare dropdown reads At least or Fewer than, its Threshold is a whole number of bookings (10 to start), and Counted over picks the days: Yesterday, Last 3 full days, Last 7 full days (to start), Last 14 full days or Last 30 full days.
At least 20 is true at 20 or more. Fewer than 3 is true at 2, 1 or none.
The whole property
Every other condition except reads the room types the rule measures. Recent bookings reads your whole property: a booking for any room type that counts as a room, for any night, counts. So it reads the same number on every night the rule covers.
What counts as one booking
- A booking with several rooms or several nights counts once, on the day it was made (on Mews, several nights: each room of a Mews booking is its own reservation and counts on its own). A room added to it later is not a new booking.
- Once MAYA has read your booking history, the reservations your property system links in one group (a Cloudbeds group or allotment block, a ThinkReservations group) count as one booking in a window where any of them is new. The change log says so: "Across the property, 10 reservations in one Cloudbeds group counted as one booking."
- On Mews, each room counts on its own: a 3-room booking is 3 bookings, because Mews links no groups MAYA reads.
- A cancelled booking doesn't count.
- A booking on a room type you have unticked under Counts as a room doesn't count.
Once a hotel day
The number is the same on every night, so a booking that moved it would move every night the rule covers at once. So MAYA counts it once a , at its first check after midnight at your property, and every check that day reads that count. The day's count is made only on a check whose read of your property system went through, so a count made during an outage never stands for the day.
- Today's bookings and cancellations count from tomorrow.
- At the start of the next day MAYA counts again, and within its first few checks judges every night the rule covers on the new count, nearest nights first.
Pair it with a booking window
A recent bookings rule reaches every night in its scope: tonight and the next 395 nights. To keep it near arrival, add a Booking window (days to stay) row, for example Less than 30. Read Booking window.
Example: A quiet week at Harbour Inn
"Quiet week" has two rows: Recent bookings, whole property (advanced) Fewer than 5 over Last 7 full days, and Booking window (days to stay) Less than 14. It lowers the price 5%.
Four bookings came in over the last seven full days. Tonight and the next 13 nights drop 5%. Tomorrow's first check counts again: if the last seven full days hold 6 bookings, the cut comes off on every one of those nights.
Cancellations and the undo box
The count moves with time, as days leave the window, as well as with cancellations, so in a a recent bookings line is read as it is, ticked or not: the change comes off, usually early in the day the count no longer meets the mark (The undo box). On a or pickup rule, recent bookings is one more thing that must be true when the rule acts, and a count that later falls short doesn't take that rule's change off.
What the change log says
- "22 bookings came in across the property in the 7 days up to yesterday, reaching the 20-booking mark you set."
- "No bookings came in across the property yesterday, under the 3-booking mark you set."
