Simple or Detailed view

8 min readYour history and the reviewUpdated October 20, 2026

In plain words

MAYA asks each person once how much of the configuration they want to see: Simple, where each rule is explained in one sentence and the settings you haven't changed stay out of the way, or Detailed, every condition, threshold and setting. It is the same MAYA either way: your rules, floors, ceilings and prices are the same whichever you pick, and switching never changes anything saved for your property. The view is yours alone, saved with your login, and you switch it any time under Display in Settings.

Where you choose

The question comes once, where the answer has something to apply to.

  • On the setup review, between the first screen (does this match reality?) and the recommendations: a screen headed "How much do you want to see?" with a line above it saying what is next ("Next: the built from your history, already running in simulation." or, with no starter rules, "Next: your floors and ceilings, and what else your history showed."). Read Checking what MAYA found.
  • On your first dashboard load, as the whole screen before the dashboard, if you were not setting a property up: you joined by invitation after the setup, you are trying a demo property, or your property was connected by us. The dashboard draws once you have chosen. If you were invited while the property was still being set up, the review asks instead, and the dashboard asks on its next load once the setup is done.

Nothing is picked for you. Press a card and the view applies at once.

Who is not asked: everyone who had an account before this choice existed is in the Detailed view, which is every screen exactly as it was. MAYA's own staff see the Detailed view too. A view is per person, never per property: your colleagues choose their own, and yours changes nothing they see.

The two cards

  • Simple: "Each rule in one sentence. Settings you haven't changed stay out of the way."
  • Detailed: "Every condition, threshold and setting."

Under both: "Same MAYA either way. Switch anytime in Settings."

While your choice saves, the card reads "One moment…". If it cannot be saved with your login, the first-login screen reads "Couldn't save your view. Try again." with the cards still there and a Go to my dashboard link; the review moves on and reads "Couldn't save your view to your account. This browser keeps it, and it's saved again the next time you open MAYA." Either way this browser keeps your answer, and the next time the dashboard or the setup review opens it is saved to your login.

What never changes

A view changes what is on your screens. It never changes a stored value, a rule, a floor, a ceiling or a price. Every new property gets the same and the same floors and ceilings whichever view its people chose: the Detailed view shows them in boxes you can change, the Simple view shows them as applied, read-only. Neither view sets or changes them.

The Simple view never hides what MAYA did or will do to a price: the calendar and its day cards, the Change Log tab, a rule's fire log, your floors and ceilings as applied, prices you typed, the Rate Simulator, the Rules list with each rule's conditions and price change, the simulation strip and going live are the same in both views. So are the Floors and ceilings section of Settings and the section named for your property system (keep the change as your price, or MAYA's price wins): both decide prices, so both stay.

What Simple leaves out

A setting stays out of the way only while it is at its default or not in use. One you (or a colleague) changed stays on screen in both views, because it decides what MAYA does.

Settings (Settings):

SectionSimple leaves out
CalendarFirst small line while it shows Rooms booked, Second small line while it shows Room revenue, Colours while Standard, Show unsold block rooms while unticked. Big number stays, and so does Price for whenever a price is on the calendar.
Floors and ceilingsNothing
Cloudbeds or Think ReservationsNothing
BookingsAdvanced and its Count a group as up to box while the cap is 1. The Count bookings made together as one box stays.
DisplayNothing: this is where the view is chosen.

The rule builder (The rule builder): the kinds in the Metric list marked "(advanced)" (, Recent bookings whole property, Average rate booked; a condition already on one of them keeps that one in its own list, and the other conditions' lists still leave all three out); Then waits (advanced) on a condition while it waits the default week, with the line "Waits 1 week after each change before acting on that night again." and the same ? in its place; and Change prices on different room types while unticked. Editing a rule that uses any of them shows it, in both views.

The review (below): the floor and ceiling boxes, a suggestion card's amount box, and each 's settings, which sit behind Show details.

Nothing else is left out in this first build: the Rules list, the Rate Simulator and the PMS tab are the same in both views.

The line under a trimmed section

Wherever the Simple view leaves settings out, the section ends with one line saying so, with a count that is exact for your property and the moment: "Detailed view shows 3 more settings here." (or "1 more setting"), followed by a Switch to Detailed button. On the review the line reads "Detailed view lets you change these here." under your floors and ceilings, and "Detailed view lets you type your own amount." under suggestion cards. The button switches your view at once, everywhere on the page, and saves it with your login, the same as choosing Detailed in Settings. Nothing is ever silently gone.

Switching in Settings

Under Display in Settings, which reads "Just for you", the View row offers Simple and Detailed, with one line each: "Simple: settings you haven't changed stay out of the way." and "Detailed: every setting." Press one and every screen switches at once; "Saved" shows beside the heading once your login has it. Anyone can change their own view, whatever their role.

Your choice is saved with your login, so it follows you to any computer, phone or tablet you sign in on, from the first page after you sign in. The browser also keeps it for you, under your own login only: on a shared computer the next person who signs in starts with their own choice, never yours.

If it cannot be saved with your login, the line beside the heading reads "Couldn't save your view. Try again." The page keeps showing the view you chose, this browser keeps it, and the next time the dashboard or the setup review opens it is saved again.

The review in the Simple view

The recommendations screen of the setup review, in the Simple view:

  • Your starter rules are listed as in the Detailed view, each with its one-sentence explanation, and Keep them and Remove them and start with a clean slate as always. Under each rule, Show details opens its conditions as the Rules tab words them, its price change and its room types, read-only; Hide details closes them. A rule already deleted on the Rules tab reads "This rule is no longer on your Rules tab." If the details cannot be read: "Couldn't read this rule's details. Try again." Read Your starter rules.
  • Your floors and ceilings are listed one line per room type, each as applied ("none" where there is none), with no box to type into, and the line "Detailed view lets you change these here." with Switch to Detailed. Someone who could not change the boxes anyway sees the list without the switch.
  • Suggestion cards (after Get suggestions from my data) offer their number, for example Set it to 80, without the box to type another; "Detailed view lets you type your own amount." sits under them.

Reaching this screen during the first setup, as a Revenue Manager or higher, with the import complete and the property still simulating, fills any floor or ceiling the import left at "none" from that room type's own rates, whichever view you are in, and the Change Log tab says so for each one. Read Floors and ceilings and A floor or ceiling from your own rates.

Example: Sam picks Simple

Sam connects The Harbour Inn, answers the five questions and reaches the review. After the closure cards, the screen asks how much Sam wants to see. Sam presses Simple. The recommendations show the five , one sentence each, and under them "King · Floor $80 · Ceiling $310", "Suite · Floor $150 · Ceiling none". Sam presses Show details under Hot-week surge, reads its condition and price change, and presses Keep them. A month later Sam opens Settings to change the calendar's colours, finds Big number and the line "Detailed view shows 4 more settings here." (the two small lines, Colours and, on Cloudbeds, the unsold block rooms box), presses Switch to Detailed, and the Colours row is there. Nothing about the inn's rules or prices changed on the way.
